Eagle Creek Pack-It Specter Cube Set

Water and stain resistance packing cubes keep items separate in your pack or suitcase. Cube fabric is translucent which makes it easy to locate your gear.

Pros

  • Lightweight see-through fabric
  • Various sizes
  • Water and stain resistant
  • Self repairing zippers

I have found these Eagle Creek Pack-It cubes to be a great addition to my backpacking and travel kits. The Pack-It Specter Cube set pairs one small cube with two medium cubes, one of which has a plastic folding board to give it structure.

These 30D Ripstop Nylon cubes are water and stain resistant and feather-light, 1.3oz for the small and 1.8oz for the medium without the structure board. Two-way self-repairing zippers are featured on all the cubes along with a reinforced handle. Translucent fabric allows me to see what is stored without opening the cube.

For backpacking, I usually take one of each size cube, packing my socks, skull cap, and gloves in the small cube for easy access. The medium cube is filled with my sleepwear, long sleeve top, and puffy jacket. I find that having my gear in these thin rectangular cubes makes packing easier. When I hit camp and remove the cubes it's nice having everything available but contained, it makes for a much neater tent. The handle makes pulling the cubes out of my pack just that much easier.

On a recent trip to hike the Tour of Mont Blanc in Europe, I used the cube system exclusively when packing. Notice how neat and organized this 35-liter pack is. Each cube has a different set of clothing items, I even had my toiletry kit in one of the cubes. Keeping things organized and neat made life in the hut dormitories much easier.

For traveling, I always also include the structured cube which helps keep pants and shirts more wrinkle-free. As you can see in the photo the Pack-It cubes make for a neater suitcase and they help me keep things neater and organized when I reach my destination.

After many trips both in the backcountry and around the world, the cubes still look like new.
