Eddie Bauer First Ascent Downlight Hoodie Pullover

The First Ascent Downlight Hoodie Pullover has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best down insulated jackets for 2024.

I like performance gear that performs. I love performance gear that performs and looks great doing it. That’s the Eddie Bauer First Ascent Downlight Hoodie Pullover. It’s warm, water resistant and versatile. It’s also really stylish.

The Downlight Hoodie Pullover is made of a silky ripstop nylon with a great soft feel. Eddie Bauer uses a 20-denier ripstop with a Stormrepel™ DWR finish. In the rain, the hoodie beaded up nicely and stayed dry. The lining also has a silky feel and ensures that the hoodie does not ride up — something less-silky items can do. The down fill (800 fill power) is super warm and very lightweight. This ensures that the jacket does not have the clunky feel of down items from the past.

A fleece-lined front pocket adds to the jacket’s look and warmth. The zippers on the pocket move easily. Versatility is key for me and the jacket folds into the front packet creating a fleece-exterior travel pillow. Packability and this alternative use make the hoodie even more appealing. A stylish hood keeps you warm and dry and the elastic at the sleeve cuffs keeps the cold out.

The First Ascent Downlight Hoodie Pullover is a great addition to any outdoor wardrobe, and it has a permanent place on my packing list.
