This is a nice pack for overnights or for a few days. I wasn't crazy about it at first for loading, as you unzip the entire compartment and the pull the flap back over your stuff (like a book bag), but I got used to it. Keeps me from overpacking. A sturdy pack, as are all EMS packs that I've seen/used. The two pockets and spot for bladder are nice touches.

I tried the external version of this pack and my head was severely restricted from extending upward. I returned it and purchased the internal 4500. This pack is great. It is perfect for 2-3 night trips. I've done a number of overnights in The Whites with it and it has never had a problem. I think EMS packs are very durable and made well. It has slots for skis. It's good.
