Eureka! Hobbit

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

The Hobbit has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best three-season tents for 2024.

Well designed tent with good quality materials and extra rugged fly but too reliant on 'drum tight' fly staking. Side walls are also too steep when 2 people are in the tent. Overall, OK tent for the price, but mine's going back to the store. Would be a bad tent for people who always camp on backcounty tent pads.

Design: 3+ season, pseudo A-frame
Sleeps: 2
Ease of Setup: Tricky - staking out the fly just right is crucial to avoid condensation.
Weight: 5 lbs
Price Paid: $245 cdn.

This is a good lightweight tent. I didn't pay too much for it either as I got it 2nd hand. I've used it on several hiking trips into the Snowy Mountains in NSW. It's quick to erect and pack away. I really can't fault it.

Design: ???
Sleeps: 2
Ease of Setup: easy
Weight: 3 kgs packed with poles and all pegs
Price Paid: second hand

This is the best tent I've ever bought, or slept in for that matter. It is extemely lightweight, packs up small, easy to put up and pull down. I once came across another hiker with the same tent who said the same.

Design: 3 season
Sleeps: 2
Ease of Setup: easy
Weight: 2.7kg
Price Paid: $300 (AU)
