An expedition parka with an urban soul.

Pros

  • Quality
  • Down
  • Loft
  • Hood
  • Construction

Cons

  • Weight
  • Pockets
  • Bulk
  • Sizing

Above all, this jacket is a classic. It hasn't changed and it has a history. It also has a Swedish soul. The character is for the style-oriented. However, it is called Expedition, so I review it from that point of view.

Above all, it is a massive jacket. Hard to pack. The beautiful provided pouch is big as well. As it is 800 Down of the highest quality, it may be reduced in size, but do compare with others and it looks gigantic.

The loft is comfortable and fluffy, the fabric a bit rough and the construction on pair with a cold weather parka. The hood is very computable and warm with a generous amount of down that provides protection. It also has a tunnel shape towards the face, thus providing excellent wind protection.

The cords both at the waist and at the hood are yellow and old-fashioned. The leather at both ends is beautiful. However, the cords are too long. No need for that.

The sizing is complex as the jacket is long and heavy. A small seems very generous. I would definitely try it out before ordering. The pockets are not convenient for mountaineering nor hiking. They fall into the urban jacket category.

On the trail, the jacket is warm but heavy. Hence, I would only recommend for a more urban style than for an expedition of any sorts.
