Warm, medium weight hiking socks with an anatomical fit. Primaloft and Merino wool for a great feel. Available in two heights.
- Anatomical fit
- 2 different heights
- None so far
Fox River was kind enough to supply two pairs of PrimaHike socks for testing and I have been doing just that since this past fall. I have used them for hiking, mountain biking, gym workouts, and just casual use. The PrimaHiker sock is available in crew and quarter crew heights.
41% nylon, 26% PrimaLoft@ acrylic, 26% Merino wool, 4% NanoGlide nylon, 3% Spandex
By combining Primaloft with Merino wool they have added additional warmth, softness, and increased ability to manage moisture. The NanoGlide nylon cuts down on friction for a blister-free environment. Spandex provides what Fox River calls memory fit, the ability for the sock to keep its shape after washing.
Anatomical fit means these socks are labeled right and left. This eliminates that extra fabric at the little toes you find with standard shaped socks. Flat toe seams are used for comfort while mesh panels of fabric provide areas of ventilation. Finally, a ribbed top keeps the socks from falling down during activities.
I have been testing these socks for six months during a wide variety of activities. What these activities have in common has been cold weather. Whether hiking, biking or just going about life these socks have kept my feet very comfortable. These medium weight socks felt warm, soft, and cushiony the moment I put them on.
Size medium (6-8.5) fit my size 8.5 size feet perfectly, a nice snug fit, without being tight. Luckily, all my trail runners and winter hiking boots are a size 9, since these socks are noticeably thicker than the socks I wear during spring and summer.
I primarily wore the quarter socks during my fall and winter mountain bike rides where they kept my feet warm without overheating and becoming soaked with sweat. The crew length were used for hiking in high top trail runners or combined with outdoor boots during regular daily activities. Again I could just put them on and count on being comfortable all day.
The socks have held up through numerous washings and still look and perform like the day I received them.
These Fox River PrimaHike socks have performed as advertised and coupled with a 1-year defect guarantee I consider them a good buy.
