Gas One GS-800 Butane Gas Stove

rated 4.5 of 5 stars
photo: Gas One GS-800 Butane Gas Stove compressed fuel canister stove

Here' my review of a compact, butane powered camping stove. It's the Gas One GS-800 model constructed of durable stainless steel. This is a rugged and reliable little stove that is perfect for car camping or for taking along on a canoe trip where weight and size are not an issue. The piezo-electric ignition fires up the stove instantly, and it boils water quickly. It uses readily available butane cylinders.

Pros

  • Reasonably priced
  • Well made
  • Piezo-Electric ignition
  • Stable
  • Works with large pots/pans

Cons

  • A bit bulky
  • Non-refillable fuel canisters required

Background

Have used this stove on a few canoe trips with short portages, so weight and size were not a problem. Works well. Starts every time. Boils water quickly.
