Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 400 Boots

photo: Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 400 Boots mountaineering boot

This boot is well made for big game hunting in the mountains. It has a slight tilt in the ball that helps push you forward, helpful with steep hikes and heavy loads. Walking through bogs, rocks, and uneven terrain, I have found these boots are worth the price.

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Has not shown any signs of wear after 4 years
  • Keeps out water
  • Superb traction

Cons

  • Not ideal when hiking in summer due to the 400 gram insulation.
  • Cannot remove insulation
  • Not great for stationary hunting

These boots have never gotten my socks wet, except from perspiration when using during the summertime. Having large feet (size 14), I did not have any issues with break-in time. The only pressure points I received were from lacing them too tightly.

The durability has proven to be outstanding as I do not have anything but scuffs after even using them to boulder crawl. During the winter I do not suggest hunting from blinds while using these as the insulation is more geared towards movement.

Background

I have used these boots in the mountains for four years now.
