L.L.Bean Women's Bean Boots, 6"

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

These boots are wonderfully dry and warm to keep you comfortable in all weather but one. In winter weather, which switches between thaw and frost, there will be thick ice on the ground and you need to have good antislides added to your soles or you will fall continuously!!

Pros

  • Dry,
  • Warm
  • Easy to get on and off
  • Wonderful in rainy weather above freezing point

Cons

  • Too slippery soles. Impossible on icy roads.

This boot gives a very good fit, is a little tricky to get on, but easy to get out of.

It keeps you warm, dry, and comfortable in all weather.

I think perhaps there has been an inner insulator, but I do not know since my pair was handed down to me. I would certainly like an inner insulator, not to keep warm in winter, extra woolen socks does that for me, but because there is some friction at the heels which becomes irritating after a while. It is actually at the point where the rubber is sown together with the leather top and 3cm above there is another seem for the padded brown leather.  After a while my heel gets a sore.

The support to foot and ankle is good.

Traction is good on all surfaces but icy and slippery ones. There they are hopeless and I must add antislides to use them at all. The sole is to even to get a grip.

Otherwise the quality is very good. They look unworn, but not new, because the tongue underneath the lacing has lost its color.

I got my pair on a jumble sale years ago and have used them especially for walks in rainy and cold weather with temperatures between 0-10 degrees Celsius and always rejoiced over being so warm and dry.

If the problem about the nagging of the heels could be solved as well as the grip of the soles on ice I would happily wear them from November to April.
