La Siesta ZunZun Travel Hammock Chair

photo: La Siesta ZunZun Travel Hammock Chair camp chair

I really love this hammock chair, and would totally recommend it to someone looking to use it for a short distance hike (or at home!).

Pros

  • Only one tree needed!
  • Crazy fast shipping
  • Sustainable brand
  • Comfortable
  • Easy once you learn how to hang it

Cons

  • No instructions, had to look up online
  • Heavy for a travel hammock
  • Takes up a decent amount of space
  • Not ideal for backpacking

What an awesome idea! I love to hammock, but the most frustrating thing is trying to find two trees that are the perfect distance apart. This makes it so easy!  I came up with a lot of pros, and also a couple of cons while trying this out a few times;

Pros

First off, I need to absolutely talk about the shipping. I ordered it on June 10th, and got it two days later!! I live in the middle of the Upper Peninsula; nothing gets here that fast, even Amazon Prime stuff! The packaging was great, no extra stuffing, just the hammock chair in a box. You can tell they really do practice sustainable business!

The chair itself is spacious; two people could easily fit as long as their combined weight is less than 265 lbs. The swivel piece that connects to the tree strap makes it super easy to not get twisted up, and it’s also super fun to just spin around. I also loved how easy it was to adjust the height after hooking it to the tree.

Cons

There are only a couple cons I can think of. One would be that there were no instructions that came with it, though they are easily available online. The other thing is the weight and size of it. For a travel hammock, I would expect it to weigh a lot less. It also takes up a good amount of room in a backpack, and for those reasons I wouldn’t recommend bringing it on backpacking trips or longer hikes in general.

A lightweight, packable, comfortable hanging chair.

Pros

  • Easy to assemble
  • Colorful
  • Comfortable
  • Packs small
  • About 2 —light!

Cons

  • Weight limit—if you're over 260 lbs this is not for you

This hammock chair arrived in its own stuff sack, and the instructions for setup are sewn inside! My 9-year-old and I could easily put this up.

The spreader bar disassembles easily and packs into the bag. It's lightweight enough to add to your backpack and provide a comfy alternative to sitting on the ground.

We use it at home on our swingset, and both grownups and kids love it. It's the perfect spot to snuggle with a book and a warm drink. When camping, the single strap was easy to install and only needed one tree with a decent branch. It was easy to adjust, and you can add rope if you need more length. We had a 220 lb guy sit it in, and it held well and was comfy for him until the kids kicked him out.

Would highly recommend.

Background

We have owned this for only a few days, but have another full size hammock that we use when camping. It is an all weather product, and should hold up well. We like this option to the lay-down hammock as a place to sit upright and be able to drink or read easily. We've set this chair up at home on our swing set in the backyard, and at a campsite on a tree branch.

Extremely comfortable chair that can be used at home or anywhere you feel like traveling with it! Well worth the purchase!

Pros

  • I absolutely love the comfort, portability, and simplicity of the setup on this chair.

Cons

  • The only issue I have with this chair is it isn’t always easy to find a branch hanging off a tree strong enough to support the weight of a person. You can hang it on a tree that angles, but then you are basically running your head against the tree while you sit in it. I am going to use a couple hammock straps to strap between two trees and connect the chair to the middle of them.

Outstanding chair for travel or home use. Extremely comfortable, fairly lightweight, and easy to set up. Only issue I have with it is I haven’t been able to find a tree with a branch hanging off heavy enough to support the chair with someone in it the two times I have taken it backcountry camping.

It needs a hammock strap system of some sort to strap between two trees and it would be a no doubt 5-star product!

Background

Love this chair! Just wanting to find more versatile ways to hang it.
