La Sportiva Latok TRK

The Latok TRK has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best backpacking boots for 2025.

I first got a pair of these boots in 2003. Over the next four years I wore these boots constantly. They were the best pair of boots I ever owned. In 2006, I found out they were discontinuing this product and I frantically searched the web for another pair my size. I found one after some searching and ordered them. I kept them new, wearing them only to work in the office and around town, while I continued to wear my old pair for my outings.
I am an outdoor professional. I own my own adventure business and spend 80-120 days a year in the field. Finally, my old pair was officially worn out so I broke out my new pair for their maiden backcountry voyage. To my disappointment, the sole fell apart! I could not believe it.
If I would have had the money I would have bought 4 pairs, but I am glad I didn't now. I have owned 6 pairs of La Sportiva boots, and the last two have fallen apart on me. I am not sure I will continue to buy them.

Great fitting boot. Easy to break in. However, the sole wears quickly. The rubber is simply too soft and wears out very fast.
