This model is packed with tools. The width is deceiving…

Rating: rated 4 of 5 stars

This model is packed with tools. The width is deceiving in pictures but is close to 1 inch (2.54 cm). A very capable urban tool that has strong but non-locking blade positions. The usual screwdrivers and poke/puncture devices. Limit comes at wine opening!

  • Many tools
  • Urban “Swiss Army” Leatherman
  • Great business traveler (checking in luggage)

  • Flimsy wine opening tool

Basically this is your everyday weekend sub/urban warrior’s tool. It has everything 99% of those users need; however, I fault it one star because its heritage in its Leatherman lineage is the bartender’s tool and in this area, it stumbles.

Took this on a cruise ship so the wife and I could open our own wine bottles. The corkscrew is stiff and strong enough to bite into the cork but the lever arm is too thin and off-center mechanically so upon apply the lifting action, the lever arm always slips off the bottle’s lip.

BE CAREFUL HERE. Watch where you put your other hand holding the bottle. Hey, I’ve opened wine bottles across Europe and the US with dedicated tools of this style, and believe me, the Xe6 is lacking ability and robustness here. As stated, this is a shame giving its model lineage.

So, great tool, love Leatherman (now own about 10-12 different models, some more than one), so I give it four stars.
