Magellan (Academy Sports) Arrowhead Pants

rated 4.0 of 5 stars
photo: Magellan (Academy Sports) Arrowhead Pants hiking pant

Well-constructed and designed hiking pants.

Pros

  • Reinforced sewing

Cons

  • A bit stiff

At first glance, they resemble a pair of khakis with a built-in phone/gear pocket on the right thigh.

These are not cargo pants: no protruding pockets.

Material: 90% cotton but they initially feel like a "Dickies" type of material: a bit abrasive and starchy.

After a couple of washes and use, they begin to break-in.

The best thing about these $30 pants is the design and construction: They are reinforced at the rear ankle and rear knee, apparently to allow the knee to bend and move more naturally.

They don't zip at the knee to become shorts.  The pant has belt loops.

If you're doing hiking on rocks or sitting often on tough surfaces, I think these pants will hold up well. If you're a "tac" guy and spending $ on 5.11 pants, this is a good alternative.

Disclaimer: This is no substitute for Kuhl brand pants. Those are the preferred model. Much more comfortable.

Love these pants! Do lots of bending, squatting, and climbing. They stretch and give without binding.

Just can't seem to find them ANYWHERE

Pros

  • They stretch and give without binding

Cons

  • Available to locate more

Love these pants! They are great for carpenters, painters, or anyone that does a lot of squatting, bending, or climbing. They stretch and move with you unlike other pants that seem to cut a man in half.... if you know what I mean.
