The Eigerjoch Pro IN Hooded is a top of the line Mammut down jacket. Their approach is as versatile as the jacket's.

They use 850 certified down with Coreloft in the underarms and shoulders, areas considered prone to humidity thus preventing down to be wet. Panels are as well interesting as down isn't restricted to '"lines" but may move more freely to assure warmth.

It is considered a belay jacket and it is ideal to very low temperatures. Anything over 0°F or -18°C may see this as an overkill. Once you wear it, it feels as a sleeping bag. The loftiness is stupendous.

Sizing is complex because one would enjoy a large jacket if wearing thick underwear and a mid-layer beneath. However, Mammut is very oriented to European sizing (thus smaller). But this jacket is completely on par with North American sizes. Confusing, as I wear an XL on most Eiger line products of Mammut and this jacket needed a size less than usual.

Then, the jacket is very long. Easily covering down to your thighs. I find it a bit long as, if sitting, one must be careful. Others may enjoy that length for extra warmth.

Hood is very warm and may be adjust to a helmet or not. When fully zipped, throat and mouth are well protected as well. Pockets are phenomenal. Easy to access and in place with a belay belt. I wish they could have a liner to warm hands better.

Down is treated for water resistance. It is a well breathable garment but, as it is made for extreme cold, this function isn't key. The Mammut Eiger line comes in very bold colours. They're very distinctive when worn. For me the bright Arumita orange is ideal. I photograph all athletes in winter and these jackets make sure they stand out against ice and snow.

An overall splendid jacket with a very high-end approach to quality and weight.
