Marmot Men's Gravity Jacket

rated 5.0 of 5 stars
photo: Marmot Men's Gravity Jacket soft shell jacket

Best jacket EVER. I've owned mine for 3-4 years now and have used both in the U.S. and abroad. Lightweight, easy to pack and wear, this jacket is perfect. Stops wind and water and with the pit zips, the jacket breathes when you need it to.

Pros

  • Waterproof
  • Wind proof
  • Light and easy to park

Cons

  • None

This was my first soft shell (heck, it's my first real non-mall jacket!) and I am quite impressed. I also tried the Marmot Oracle, MH syncro/alchemy, ArcTeryx Gamma SV, and various TNF jackets and none fit/stretch as well as the Gravity for city use. This jacket is only water/wind resistant but in sunny CA, the weather rarely gets too wet/windy. When it does, I have a waterproof MH Ascent Jacket to throw on top of this or a windstopper vest to wear underneath. While I liked the Arc'Teryx the best for its quality, I couldn't justify the 3x price tag (er... to my wife). So, if you're looking for an affordable, three-season jacket, you can't go wrong with this bad boy.

Price Paid: $108

Solid, durable soft shell.

Pros

  • Windproof
  • Waterproof (nearly)
  • Good stretch
  • Long sleeves
  • Looks cool

Cons

  • A tad bulky

I have used mine as an alpine soft shell from rock climbing to ice climbing to skating with my kids. I have terrific freedom of motion, and the cuffs stay in place really well. It is very warm and breathes well.

I really put it to hard use last winter, ice climbing and winter rock climbing, and it still looks new. I strongly recommend it.

I have had my Marmot Gravity Jacket for nearly two years and have traveled with it from New Zealand to Russia and many places in between. It has been a great jacket...looks smart in the middle of London but fights an icy wind in St Petersburg no problem. Very comfortable, functional garment which I highly recommend.

Great jacket.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Warm
  • Waterproof

Cons

  • None

Lightweight, warm and waterproof. Worth every penny. Bought new for 75$ (sale).

Pros

  • All-in-one insulation
  • Breathability
  • Easy mobility durability

I tried before Marmot products. First, I must to say: versatile, durability, and enough for outdoor activity.
