Marmot Teton 15

rated 4.5 of 5 stars
photo: Marmot Teton 15 3-season down sleeping bag

I am new to backpacking so I researched and read good reviews on this bag and got a great price so I went with it. I am a 5'4" guy and men's bags are too long so I thought I'd try a women's.

It is awesome! Tried it last night in 19F degrees in 5inches of snow with an old piece of carpet and an old cheapo sleeping bag for a pad with just the raincover of my tent. No floor or even groundcloth.

I had to loosen up the cinches on the hood to let some heat out. Had fleece pants, Under Armour shirt and fleece shirt, two pair of socks, and a beanie. I could have slept in shorts and a t-shirt. I know the bag is new and has its best loft now, but it easily could have passed its 0F degree rating. It even has pockets by the feet to hold handwarmers.

Only con is I'm afraid of how hot it will be in warmer weather, but I can unzip and not wear the hood. It is a 0 bag after all. Excellent quality, looking forward to more cold nights!

Astonishingly good for the weight and pack size.

Pros

  • Kept me warm down to the coldest of British temperatures
  • Weight is very low and sat alongside my other lightweight gear very efficiently

Cons

  • Zipper tended to get caught frequently, may be better if some sort of zipper guard was installed.

Astonishingly good for the weight and pack size. Kept me warm down to the coldest of British temperatures. Furthermore, weight is very low and sat alongside my other lightweight gear very efficiently.

Used in the Lake District for several nights with barely any problems whatsoever. Did get a little wet on day 3 though, some of its efficiency was temporarily lost, but when the sun came out I was able to dry it fairly quickly during a lunch break.

Background

Very positive, would recommend indefinitely.

My fiance and I were going to Torres del Paine in December for several weeks, and I knew if my man froze, it would be the last time he would go adventuring with me...so after WEEKS of research, even after buying the REI brands and returning them after a cool evening in our respective bags spent on our living room floor (gotta love REI - they took them right back). So, we bought this (for me, I always freeze) and the comparable men's model.

Combined with two awesome and incomporable Exped Downmats, we were supertoasty the whole time!! In fact, a little TOO toasty - but that's only because we got darn lucky with the weather. A quick unzip, and there we were - voila, venting! We had a happy ending - my man stayed warm, I won the credit, and we're planning our trip to Iceland this summer!!

I bought this for use during an expedition to Greenland. I spent three weeks sharing tents with two other people and during this time I had no problems with the cold and looked forward to my sleeping bag every evening. I also spent the last week bivving out and sleeping in snowgraves. Again the bag had no problem with the cold. The end of the bag became slightly damp once from the condensation inside the tent, but dried within 10 minutes on top the tent. I usually feel the cold and I would highly recommend this sleeping bag.

since i am a cold sleeper, i really wanted a sleeping bag that will keep me toasty in cold weather (i freeze at 65 degrees). i used the marmot teton in about 35 degree weather and it was REALLY warm. the bag kept me nice and toasty the entire night. it was not too constricting or stuffy feeling. there was a bit of moisture in my tent, but the bag still maintained its fluffiness and warmth. it is perfect for anyone that is 5'5" or shorter.
