Amazing piece of kit that is very warm but packable to a tiny size. Mine is the 2015 version. Don't believe it has changed much if at all apart from colour.

Pros

  • Warm
  • Water repellant
  • Hood
  • Light
  • Reasonable cost
  • Still warm when wet (less than dry of course)
  • Very good quality control at point of manufacture

Cons

  • Light fabric will not take kindly to barbwire etc

I got given this bit of kit as a leaving gift from my last Major level command. I could not have been more grateful. It is a fantastic hiking top, great for travel as it's smart but very functional. It is snug without being tight. Has light, but after three years, very robust zips.

It is tiny when packed, easily fitting in a ultra running pack, and will satisfy the most stringent warm kit requirements for packing lists.

Not quite as good as down, but without the hassle of its heat retention if it gets wet.

Pertex fabric is a real winner in this case. Works well with Nikwax products.

In all very good and in my view essential thermal layer that does well on its own as an outer layer in all but the worst weather. Under a shell it's perfect.
