MSR Quick Skillet

Good lightweight skillet.

Bought it because it nests with my Quick Two System. Wanted a frying pan after cooking eggs in a pot, very difficult to clean. Like the second handle that comes with the skillet, can be used with the pots also.

Added a Campmor mesh dunk bag (11" x 16") for $5, it fits the entire system perfectly.

The size of the skillet is just about right, maybe a little on the small side. I owned an older MSR teflon skillet and when I went to replace it, I noticed that the new model was about an inch smaller in diameter. The ceramic model by MSR is the same size as my original so I may end up getting that instead. The new MSR size is good for smaller portions but the larger ceramic model is, in my opinion, the sweet spot for size, weight, and versatility.

I have used an MSR skillet for many years. Mainly for breakfast—bacon and scrambled eggs. It is a perfect mix of weight, size, and functionality. After five years the teflon started to wear off so I purchased a replacement. To my surprise, the new skillet was about an inch smaller in diameter.

If I wanted a skillet with the same diameter, I had to purchase a ceramic coated model for about $8-10 more. Both are well made, and allow cooking a variety of foods.

I like the MSR style because of the greater depth of the pan. I feel as though less will be spilled especially if cooking soups or other things that might "slosh." I also like the rolled edge on the pan. Other brands have a sharp edge and could possibly cut other gear in my pack. The handle is sturdy and easy to attach/detach.

I have been very happy with the teflon coated model after five years of use but I may be switching to ceramic for the extra cost just to maintain the overall size of the original pan.
