Best boots I've owned.
- Solid foundation
- Comfortable immediately
- Fantastic grip on rocks
- Good wear characteristics
- 3 years hard use one more to go
- Wet traction horrible as bad as they are good dry
I bought two pair in reserve on clearance for 85 bucks each.
These are fantastic boots unless it is wet, then be very careful on rocks. I tried the Wind River IIs and they weren't right, if you know what I mean, whereas these were perfect the moment i put them on. I stumbled on some of the last ones from Oboz and grabbed them at about half the price of any other decent boots.
If you live in a dry climate, you will love these. They grip amazingly. If you live in a wet climate, and climb any rocks, you won't as the first wet rock you step on and count on the quality of the dry traction, will not be a pleasant experience. Kind of Jekyll and Hyde like.
But I live in a mostly dry location and know their weakness. Still give em 5 though, so comfortable.

All in a all, a very high quality boot.
- Very well made
- Excellent fit
- Strong strong platform
- Very good traction
- Slip right on with no effort
- Hot in warm weather
- Not warm enough in cold weather
The sole is just right stiff after three months of use at work to break in (lots of ladder work and all weather conditions native to Southeast). They still feel brand new.
If I have any negatives it would be the temperature—they are hot in summer and cold in winter (Granted I'm only wearing short cotton socks so I'll let you know how they do when I'm able to get them on trail with proper socks). They also have a spot on the toe that when it gets cold and wet make you think they are leaking; they aren't.
In short very good and quality boot that I like very much, and gives great support to the 100 plus pound load that I sometimes carry at work. Other than very extreme conditions I would highly recommend them.
