L.A. Gear Trek
Reviewers Paid: $29.00
If you are on a TIGHT budget, this shoe will fit and by fit I mean WIDE FIT for those in need as I am. Most comfortable shoe I've worn in years on the trail, around town, mowing the lawn, etc.
- Xtra Wide Toe Box
- Not a rugged sole for long rock hikes.
I am relatively new to hiking and I know people are going to say L.A. Gear for hiking!! I liked these shoes so much after my first 6-day hike that I went back and bought 5 more pairs for the future. Some of you may be able to relate that as soon as you like a certain shoe and you go back to guy another. The manufacturer has discontinued that model! I'm prepared hopefully for the next 5-6 years!
When I said TIGHT budget, I mean TIGHT, not as in tightwad! I paid $29 for each pair from Famous Footwear! I now have a pair that I wear as my regular day shoes and keep the worn-out pair to mow the lawn!
What sold me other than the extreme low price is the extra WIDE toe box. For those of us that require that, it is hard to find an really wide toe box. I have tried on other brands saying WIDE, but they don't come close to these. No they are not waterproof, but they are extremely breathable, lightweight, and stylish if that counts on the trail! The style # is LA15021M-1
I would say that I can average about 400 miles per pair. You may say, "well spend more and you can get 700 miles." I say, show me a really extra wide shoe and I'll take a look. But at $29 a pair I can still buy three pairs and be under the price some spend for more expensive shoes for the same mileage overall.
Give it a try. For $29, you can afford to experiment! If you don't like them and they are size 11 4E....I'll buy them from you!
