Ozark Trail 11 x 9 Vacation Cottage

rated 2.5 of 5 stars

The 11 x 9 Vacation Cottage has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best tents and shelters for 2024.

We purchased a large tent to accommodate an active child in case it rained during our 7 day camping adventure... and what an adventure it was.

First the tent had NO instructions so took three times longer to set it up during a threatening storm. There was NO rain cover in the box. so we drove 53 miles to purchase an oversized tarp to cover us. The tent blew down in a terrible rain and wind storm during the night. No other tents at the site were affected.

We moved sites the next day and weathered multiple storms during the week. But I wonder how well that would have gone without the tarp. I am truly dissatisfied that when I tried to contact someone regarding a rainguard for our otherwise terrific tent I have been bounced from one site to another.

MY comment to you is be careful, be very very careful!

Design: vacation cottage with porch
Sleeps: 6+
Ease of Setup: 3 x harder without instructions
Weight: 13-15 pounds
Price Paid: too much

This tent set up easy in about 30 minutes without instructions (you should put metal rafters together and place rain fly on before raising with studs.). Suggest purchasing heavy duty pegs.

Pros

  • Easy setup
  • Good value
  • Well made
  • Aesthetically pleasing

Cons

  • No instructions
  • Standard yellow and cheap wire pegs
  • Needs a slightly larger carry case.

Source: bought it used
Price Paid: $85+30 S/H 115 total..

Absolute shit, super confusing, no instructions, garbage tent, threw it away right out of package. Says 30 minute setup for one person. Spent an hour trying to figure out the poles and still couldn't get it.

Cons

  • Absolute shit

Garbage—do not buy.

Background

Garbage, would not give this tent to a homeless man.

Source: bought it new
Price Paid: Too damn much

The Ozark Trail 11 x 9 Vacation Cottage sucks so much that the company that makes it will not put its name on it. Anyone who says otherwise works for the sucky company that makes the sucky product.

Does any one have one of these that are not missing something right out of the package? Didn't think so. Instructions and a background in camping magic are needed to assemble this monster.

Price Paid: It was free and that was too much!

this tent is so hard to put up.

and it doesn't have instructions!!

this company s**ks.
your lucky i dont sue.

Design: sh*tty
Sleeps: 6+
Ease of Setup: hard
Weight: bazillion punds

My wife and I used a Hillary tent similar to this one, really liked it. It was my father-in-law's tent.

Went camping with friends. The tent I took along was really too small so went to Wal-mart and bought this one looks just like the Hillary and sets up almost the same. My wife and I like the size. Most of our camping equipment is Ozark Trail or Coleman. I have trouble trusting other brands.

Design: cottage style
Sleeps: 6+
Ease of Setup: 1 can set up but better with 2
Weight: weight not seen on package
Price Paid: $80

I bought this tent at Walmart 3 years ago. I used the tent for 10 days for a camp with my grandchildren.

This year I lived in it for 5 months. There was rain and wind many of those days. Never had a leak or a problem.

I have put up many tents and I found this was one of the easier tents I have.

I would recommend this tent to anyone.

Sleeps: 4
Ease of Setup: thought it was fairly easy
Weight: about 17 lbs.
Price Paid: don't remember
