Ozark Trail Shower / Utility Room

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

The Shower / Utility Room has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best tents and shelters for 2024.

This Shower / Utility Room is a basic shower or bathroom enclosure, 3.5 feet square. It has hooks for hanging a solar shower and a pocket for soap and personal items. I used mine as both a shower enclosure and a privacy shelter for using a portable potty. It worked fairly well for both functions.

As a shower enclosure, about the only complaint I have is that the solar shower bag hangs very low, so it is necessary to squat in order to wash your hair. This was the only minor inconvenience I noticed.

As a privacy shelter for using the potty, it worked quite well. We used a "Luggable Loo" seat over a five-gallon bucket, with a plastic bag inside. When not in use, this was kept outside the shelter to prevent odor. The size of the shelter was adequate for this function, and the venting made it fairly comfortable, even when the temperature outside was in the mid 90s, and the shelter was in the direct sunlight.

The shelter was subjected to some fairly high Wyoming winds this summer, but it stayed upright and in position throughout the trip. The same could not be said of the dome tent we were using.

We take it to the river and place a portable potty in it. We never have to go in to the slip and up to use the restroom. We can find a sandbar put it up in 10 minutes and also use it to change our clothes and shower if we want.

We buy the dutie bags at super walmart and they have a bag that closes into a firm zip lock bag and you can dispose of the waste neatly in the proper place. It is so convenient. You will never get stuck having to go potty out in the wild again.

Remember Wal Mart has a portable potty. All campers should have one. I need one of the poles as a replacement part as I dropped one in the river accidentally so if you can direct me where to get one I would love it.

We were camping and a storm came with wind. Blew the shower down and broke the plastic thing that holds the poles together into 2 pieces.
