Patagonia Women's Classic Retro-X Jacket
It may say retro, but the quality of my most recent purchase (circa '11) is not near the quality of my last couple (circa '00); they just don't last as long, especially at the elbows and pack rub points.
Pros
- Soft
- Cozy
- No metal at cuffs (snaps, etc.) that interfere with iPads, etc.
Cons
- Wear for hiking use
- Wear at elbows for lounging
- Airflow at pockets (cold) if pockets unzipped
This is a great classic. Although they no longer wear like iron for hiking, they are a great cozy lounger for around camp, or deck and patio lounging.
Classic fit with true to size (up one size from 10 years ago) dries fast, water beads in light showers, not for rain or wet snow, breathes and wicks better than most fleece, not for windy conditions without an additional wind blocking layer.

This is the warmest fleece I have ever worn--you can throw it over a tank top in the dead of a Minnesota Winter and be warm warm warm. It's expensive but worth it.
Unfortunately mine was stolen out of a pile of North Face and other Patagonia jackets: so that should tell you how it rates. This is the jacket of choice for cold and wind. If you're doing highly aerobic activities in it it's a little bulky and you'll probably get too warm, but otherwise it's awesome!
Fabric: Deep pile fleece
Fill: Windbloc lining
