Like wearing super skin.

  • Barely noticeable while wearing b/c of warmth and stretch
  • Wind blocking w/breathability outperforms reg. fleece
  • Lightweight
  • No adjustments needed
  • Balaclava hood or full neck coverage to the chin

  • Would prefer thumb strap and longer sleeve
  • Would prefer deep chest zip over full zip
  • I'd like a zone of windblock over the ears in the hood

I've owned this for about a year and the first time I put this on in my apartment it felt more luxurious than any other fleece that I'd worn before.  It wasn't as warm as my R1 Hoody, but I wasn't overheating or feeling itchy either (traits that I didn't like about R1).

I later tested it for the first time on a cool morning camp after waking to 40 degree temps and thought... not super warm, but glad that I had it.

I've just started wearing this again over the last two months and I think the key to this item is that it is an ideal movement or "action suit" piece for most cool weather. It sets itself apart because it acts like a light sweater and very breathable wind shirt all in one. Once your body temperature increases after vigorous activity, this piece rids itself of excess heat and perspiration and allows me to use it in varying environments without removing it.

Another key feature that I haven't made use of yet is that the wind panels are placed in assumption that you are wearing a pack and perhaps a wide hip belt that would be helping to block wind...that is why I feel this piece will work even better in colder and windier locations as a garment when carrying a load.

So far it has held up to casual use well, and I believe it will be key for using it to snowshoe in the White Mountains this winter.
