Platypus Bite Valve and Drink Tube Insulator

I have the insulated tube but not the bite valve cover. I do use this with a Camelbak bite valve and cover - so quite similar end result. This works with Camelbak, Outdoor Products as well as the Platypus hoser tubes - although they all take a little time to feed through the high friction material (water lubrication helps).

I use this mainly for extreme heat (Arizona) summer hiking and backpacking though it seems designed primarily for winter. It works to keep my water cool for quite long periods and I'm sure it will similarly keep water from freezing - but I find it's just a little too thick and bulky... It's hard to secure to straps or even to feed through some hydration pack sleeves. I have used alternate thinner walled insulation tubes and they don't seem to perform as well - so maybe this is the inevitable trade off...

I do think Platypus should provide a large size hose clip to work with this tube (or an adapter of some kind).

So - does the job but not perfect.

Bear in mind an alternative for both hot and cold conditions is to blow the water out of the tube & back into the bladder after drinking - you have to make sure you don't overdo it - but this can work reasonably well too.
