Salomon Men's Comet 3D GTX

photo: Salomon Men's Comet 3D GTX hiking boot

Possible defect attempted to cut my big toe off.

Pros

  • Pros don't exist if a boot tries to hobble you

Cons

  • Severe material creasing in the toe box

Fit great out of the box. Logged about 100 miles of smooth hiking before the material around the toe box (both boots) started cutting into the space between my big and second toe on both feet. This all happened in under a mile of hiking on the second day of a two-day backpack. It was so bad on my left foot that it was bleeding.

Could it be that I purchased a pair of defective boots? It's possible. Will I swap these out for another pair? No, I got lucky that I was able to finish my 17 miles.
