Due to a spinal injury a couple of years back I occasionally drag my left foot, so when my last pear of trail runners wore out I debated on getting the same again or trying a different shoe. My trusty Asics Gel Trabuco gave me about 700km before wearing through the material at my small toes so, while the ASICS were also very comfortable, I was looking for a shoe that may be a little more hard-wearing. Lots of shoe reviews later I settled on these.

I have now had them for a few weeks and have put about 130km into them, both running and hiking, on trails and asphalt at distances ranging from a handful of kilometres to around 40km in one hike (the second wearing!); from the very first use they were ready to go, incredibly comfortable and lightweight.

The sole design is excellent giving high levels of grip on all surfaces including loose gravel and wet mud, I am yet to slide and feel confident with them underfoot and while not waterproof they dry quickly after becoming wet. The only concern I had was with the lacing system, it looks a little thin and flimsy but so far it has been problem-free with no obvious wear or stretch

Overall, the Salomon Supercross 4 trail is an excellent shoe for trail running and hiking.
