Sierra Designs Tiros Guide

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

The Tiros Guide has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best four-season tents for 2024.

After shopping around a lot for a bomb-proof four-season tent, this was the clear winner. It's rock-solid in high winds, well ventilated (nice vents in large vestibule), and is very roomy for 2 -- but will also fit 3 if need be. It's an extremely pleasant space to be in, no matter what the weather, and the color scheme is very soothing and cheerful. Once I seam-sealed it well, it's as dry as an ark in heavy rain, with little or no condensation problems. For anyone looking for a great 2-3 person, 4-season backpacking/mountaineering tent made by a company who stands behind their gear, this is your tent.

This tent is a fine piece of work. I love the roominess and the symmetrical design above all else. The front door and back door of the tent are the same, so you can change your vestibule orientation after the tent is pitched. Beautiful color scheme helps make long stays under cover more enjoyable. I actually like getting cooped up in this one. Somewhat heavy for its capacity, but the roominess and strength are worth the extra ounces. I'm a die hard North Face buyer, but this excellent design has me wondering.
