This is probably not the best hiking knife. It was designed by I believe a German police officer. Its big blade is meant for slicing. I do own one and it could preform in the woods, but there are better choices.

- Not a woodsy knife
As you can see, it's not a wide blade. In fact the knife itself closed isn't wide, which is nice because it allows for more pocket space. As I said it could be used as a hiking/backpacking knife, but there are better choices.
On the plus side, if you do buy this knife, money goes to injured officers and their families, which is nice.
