rated 5.0 of 5 stars
photo: Swazi Back 40 Shirt fleece top

A versatile, heavyweight fleece shirt that will quickly become your go-to insulation layer for wet and cold days out hunting.

Pros

  • Versatile
  • Warm
  • Doesn't pile
  • Long cut

Cons

  • Bulky
  • Bit heavy for a fleece
  • Not exactly fashionable

I got the Back 40 some years ago and I have been living in the damn thing ever since.

It's a simple, heavyweight fleece shirt with two chest pockets and a zipper that goes down your chest. There isn't much too it, it's not particularly fashionable...but it's tough as nails, doesn't pile, and is cut wonderfully long so it covers your butt.

It is a terrific outer layer to throw on around camp, when you are working outside, or as a mid layer under a waterproof shell.

This is my go-to insulation layer when I'm out hunting, paired with a Swazi Tahr Anorak XP, there isn't much that will get to you.
