The North Face Havoc Shoe

rated 3.5 of 5 stars

Comfortable and practical, but soles appear to be a bit soft.

Pros

  • Waterproof
  • Breathable
  • Comfortable

Cons

  • Sole wears quickly

I use trail/approach shoes almost every day. Basically I get a black/grey pair and use them for work and about town 4 or 5 days every week, so they get a lot of action.

These are comfortable uppers and the sole gives enough stiffness/support for a lot of walking. They seem to be waterproof and despite a slightly plastic appearance they breath pretty well. I don't get too hot and sweaty in them.

My main issue is that the sole seems to be too soft. My last few pairs of similar shoes (Merrell, Salomon, and Scarpa) have lasted about three years each. These are just under a year old and I have already worn right through the soles in a few places. The rest of the shoe is still fine, but I guess I will have to replace them soon as the tread continues to disappear.

I'll admit I do a LOT of walking, but I always have done, and I expected a big brand to last better than this.
