It's a good pack for a day hike and nothing more. There is a hydration sleeve, but it is much too small for my 13 inch MacBook. So, I wouldn't recommend it for a school backpack if you have a laptop and want a special compartment for it/ have to carry a laptop plus any other textbook.

I bought this because it was shorter than most packs and fit my small torso so the size in that respect is nice.

Overall it's a pretty good pack, but if you want something roomy, I wouldn't recommend it.
