photo: Trangoworld Prote FI soft shell pant

A great pair of three-season soft shell pants at an affordable price.

Pros

  • Fairly low weight
  • Quality fabrics
  • Ergonomic alpine fit, good for climbing!

Cons

  • Rough Cordura fabric on the knees

Found this pair of pants after hours of searching technical specs that fitted my criteria along with my wallet.

Straight from Trangoworld's TRX line 527gr. packed with features!

The main fabric is Cordura Bi-stretch Dry (the slimmer more breathable version) of TRX Soft pants which can stretch in any direction and still feel rugged enough to take some abuse from any self-arrest when necessary. Had two of those so far (all good).

It also provides UV protection due to its cross weave (UPF 30 I believe).

Trangoworld's Prote FI has the following features:

Cordura reinforcements at the back with zippered pockets.

I wear medium, which is my size, but its fit is somehow tight? A friend told me though that this is due to its climbing nature, so it's true to size.

Kevlar reinforcements at the inner ankles to save you from crampon accidents.

Hem zippers for a more customized fit around the boot and easier put on/off.

Side zippers on the thighs that are primarily used for ventilation but can also facilitate a small map. The thigh zippers are the ones with the reflective detail and the side pockets are well...the side pockets!

All pockets feature mesh lining. Belt included.

Also, Cordura reinforcements on the pre-shaped knees.

The problem lies in the inner side that the Cordura is in direct contact to the skin and can be a little rough at some times.

I've been wearing it for two years. It breathes good and it hikes better. My (mild)winter favorite no doubt!
