Daniel Winkler is one of the finest knife and tomahawk maker in the world. A custom piece is, I believe, a 10-year wait and lots of cash. His Winkler II line was to provide a more affordable way for people to get his knives and hawks into the public's hands.
Pros
- Choice of grips
- Choice of blade coating
- Durability
- Fit and finish
- Some of the best knives and hawks on the market
- Lifetime warranty
- Great sheaths
- Purpose designed
Cons
- Price may be steep for some
Daniel Winkler is an ABS cert mastersmith. If you have seen "Last of The Mohicans" you have seen some of his hawks and knives. Each item that leaves his shop is inspected twice and is signed off on and you're provided with this paperwork.
His knives and hawks were originally designed for specops who approached him to get projects done. Well of course the public wanted to have these too and Winkler II was started. He makes tools to use and stands behind his tools.
If you want a great knife and got the money a Winkler is worth a look. At the top you'll see my Winkler II SAYOC and Rogers Ranger Hawks.
Source: bought it new

The SAYOC is a fighting hawk and well built for the task it also has a front spike option to help avoid glancing blows. The other hawk is The Rogers Ranger hawk and is modeled after an original Rogers Rangers tomahawk it's light and can handle bushcraft and light chopping with ease. As you can see by the handles neither would be great at splitting and both are geared towards fighting the sayoc is pure fighter. They both got 5 stars because they do exactly what Daniel set out to make them for and do and fit and finish and design are all exellent.

oh! and both come with very nice sheaths with a silent draw. The Rogers Ranger is skeletonized and the SAYOC is full tang but the handle tapers down to reduce weight.
