Exceptional workmanship, bulletproof construction, quality leather, a nice wide fit that allows any sock combination you want and room for Superfeet insoles. These are the Mercedes of hiking boots. Engineered and built to perform under tough circumstances.

Pros

  • One-piece waterproof leather construction
  • Rubber rand
  • Stiff, supportive midsole
  • Exceptional stitching
  • All day support

Cons

  • Weight
  • Break-in time (but well worth it)
  • Cost

The boots now have about 150 miles or so on them. Half of that has been on snow covered trails. They really shine in winter. Excellent warmth and traction. You feel like you've got substantial protection and support around your feet and ankles.

I'm typically between a D and E width. Many Italian hiking boots are a bit narrow for my tastes, not this one and they sized correctly. I've never experienced such perfect heel lock without excessive lace tightening as I did here. The wider toe box allows really thick socks with plenty of wiggle room.

Still experimenting with the lacing to keep them tight. The stock laces are quite stretchy. Absolutely waterproof so far too. Zamberlans are quality boots.
