About

Admittedly, I'm very much a gear head and just enjoy being outside, using the gear and enjoying life with my family.  Review context will be hiking, backpacking, hiking/climbing 14ers, hunting, mountain biking, dirt biking, and skiing...too many hobbies.

The focus of my reviews will be less around, for example, Western Mountaineering bags, which we all know are great (love my Summerlite) and have been reviewed numerous times by far more qualified individuals but more focused on quality, perhaps less familiar but good performing gear that is also a great value (e.g. current military surplus PCU/ECWCS gear).

I also like to compare and contrast this kind of gear to more well known, commercial outdoor gear that I have owned or currently own that is inherently and perhaps, prohibitively expensive.  The goal being that even on budget, one can have good quality gear that performs just as well, if not better, than much more expensive stuff.

I'm incredibly blessed to live in (west) Evergreen Colorado at 8,500ft with my backyard test area being the national forest close by in addition to some other favorite areas: Indian Peaks Wilderness, Lost Creek Wilderness, Sangre De Cristos, San Juans, Moab, etc.
