About

I'm 67 years old; I've been backpacking, mountaineering, backcountry skiing, and whitewater paddling, and sea kayaking since I was a 12 year old boyscout.  I live in Washinton state and do most of my backpacking in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, and the Selway Bitterroots. My absolute favorite place on earth is the Enchantment Lakes in the Alpine Lakes.  All in all its quite a selection! I also do a lot of scramble hiking and occasionally venture into mountaineering with forays to the summits of Hood, Adams, Baker, St Helens. Age has necessitated switching to UL gear and I'm working hard to keep my pack weights down to 20-22#.

My go to gear includes the Gossamer Gear Mariposa or Gorilla Pack, Katabatic Gear Alsek Quilt, Thermarest Neo Air Xlite or Thermarest Neo Air Xtherm, Zamberlan Crosser GTX boots, Six Moon designs Skyscape X tent,  Westcomb Hoody LT, Soto OD1-Rx stove,  Garmin Oregon 600T GPS,  Darn Tuff Socks.

I don't buy anything without reading every review available prior to making a purchase and thus am highly appreciative of Trailspace.com and look forward to all the reviews available here.
