Arc'teryx Konseal Hoody

rated 4 of 5 stars
photo: Arc'teryx Konseal Hoody fleece top

Hardwearing and light. Great alternative to traditional fleece.

Pros

  • Durable enough to be used as outer layer
  • Light
  • Good features

Cons

  • Not comfortable without base layer

Great alternative if you like me don't want the bulk of traditional fleece but still appreciate the warmth.

Sizing seems very true to size and the design allows plenty of movement even though it's quite tight fitting. The one drawback to me is that I wouldn't wear it without at least a merino t-shirt beneath on account of how the material feels on the skin. Then again it's supposed to be a middle layer. Still would be nice with the flexibility.

Speaking of flexibility the feature are great. For cold weather I love to have thumb holes and the baclava/neck warmer/hoody is just ingenious.

Material itself seems durable enough. Just keep in mind it is lightwight and thin. Haven't had any problems so far with outdoor activities in woods using it as outer layer.

The material isn't water or wind resistant by any means but still sheds dew and light rain. Breathability is top class while still keeping the warmth and it's very suitable for activity since wicking works as advertised.
