Belmont Blanket HellaGood Adventure Blanket

photo: Belmont Blanket HellaGood Adventure Blanket top quilt

I was able to test the HellaGood adventure blanket by Belmont Blanket, handmade in Portland, Oregon, in exchange for a review. Packs small, but perfect for two adults. Throw this waterproof blanket in the car, sea kayak, tent, or use around the campfire on a chilly evening.

Pros

  • Rolls up into a nice size that’s easy to throw in the car, tent, or sea kayak, though big enough for two people to lie comfortably on the beach.
  • Has multiple uses: great for an extra layer in the tent or around the campfire on a chilly evening, awesome picnic blanket, perfect for a nap in the shade in the hammock.
  • Waterproof and dries very quickly if it gets wet
  • Can be used in the sand and easily brushes off, even on the soft fleece side
  • Two sides: the blue side is waterproof so can be set down on damp sand, grass, etc. while the black side is soft fleece and comfy against your skin. Or, you can use it in reverse as a picnic table cover!
  • Well-constructed and handmade

Cons

  • A drawstring carrying bag would be a great addition to this product and could be used as a pillow if stuffed with a sweatshirt
  • The leather strap to hold the blanket in the rolled-up position should be permanently connected to the blanket; we are concerned about losing it

What I like most about this blanket:

Some of the things I wish this blanket had:

  • A drawstring carrying bag would be a great addition to this product and could be used as a pillow if stuffed with a sweatshirt.
  • The leather strap to hold the blanket in the rolled-up position should be permanently connected to the blanket; we are concerned about losing it.

Impressed with the size that this rolls up into a small packed size for a 6’ x 5’ all weather blanket. Similarly, this blanket is huge. The Adventure Blanket is really soft on the plush inside. Awesome leather accents. Probably one of the best features of this blanket is that it’s handmade in the USA!!

Pros

  • Sizing
  • Waterproof
  • Soft

Cons

  • Storage

As a member of another website, I sometimes get the opportunity to test out products in exchange for a review, and during a trip to the PNW I tested out the Belmont Blanket Adventure Blanket This is a truly fantastic blanket and completely different from the other “outdoor blankets” which either are supposedly waterproof or designed just to keep you warm. This blanket does it all. I felt like this was designed specifically with mastering the outdoors in mind.

I was really impressed with the size that this rolls up into. Was thinking it wouldn’t be nearly as warm with such a small packed size for a 6' x 5' all weather blanket.

Similarly, this blanket is huge. I’m 6 feet tall and this blanket can cover me from head to toe. So many times with an “outdoor” blanket, I can’t fully stretch out.

The Adventure Blanket is really soft on the plush inside, it’s very comfy and has actually become not only our outdoor blanket, but also our couch blanket.

Can’t attest to the waterproofing in the wild (thankfully haven’t yet had to test out if we’d get ‘wet butt’ or not), but our makeshift water bottle rain test proved the blanket was fully waterproof (not resistant) which is awesome.

Really like the design with the awesome leather accents. The colors are really sharp and make the blanket pop.

Probably one of the best features of this blanket is that it’s handmade in the USA!! How many companies or products can claim that now a day?

Soft on one side, waterproof on the other. Perfect for picnics, the beach, or anywhere you need to sit.

Pros

  • Soft
  • Waterproof
  • Washable
  • Durable
  • Handmade in the USA

Cons

  • A bit heavy
  • Tricky to roll up
  • Kind of pricy

I was given the opportunity to test out this blanket from Belmont in exchange for a review.

Before I took it camping, I hauled it with me on a trip to Paris, France. Even though the blanket weighs a bit more due to the waterproof material, I found it invaluable. Many places you go, you can grab some food and wine and set up a picnic. We sat along the Seine River and in front of the Eiffel Tower. The room we stayed in didn't have much room, so we used it as a makeshift tablecloth on the bed.

As a cover, it is very warm. The soft layer is a faux fur with medium plush. The other side is a rubbery, waterproof material. The soft side tended to hold onto debris and pet hair, but cleaned up with a few shakes. As mentioned, it's heavy, weighing about 3 lbs, so it's not bad for day hikes, but I would not recommend it for long excursions. All in all, I love the blanket and look forward to using it on other trips.
