Campmor Camp-Tech High Peaks Pinnacle II Parka
The Camp-Tech High Peaks Pinnacle II Parka has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best waterproof jackets for 2024.
Judging by the other product reviews for this jacket, I assume that the design, construction, and fabric used have evolved and improved over the past several years. I've had my jacket for about three months now, and I have no complaints. It is well constructed and tough. There is nothing wrong with the liner of my jacket, as some other older reviewers have complained about.
It keeps me dry in heavy rain. I wouldn't mind if it had a few less pockets; extra zippers and pockets are just more opportunities for water to find a way in (eventually) and add weight, so I think nearly all parka manufacturers tend to over-do them. I also bought the fleece liner which zips in, and the two together make a warm, dry winter jacket. Time will tell if this jacket holds up over the long haul. But at this price, if I get three-five years of good use out of it, I will be more than satisfied. And when one considers that most of the competing jackets cost 2x, 3x, and even 6x (!!!) as much as this one, this is a great buy. I use mine every time it rains, on the trail or at home, and it's great.
