Version reviewed: jacket with Hytrel

This jakcet is a bargain! $70 for a windproof fleece jacket? I had been looking at Mt. Hardware Windstopper jackets for a long time but couldn't swallow the $250 price tags. Campmor solved that! This jacket made with DuPont Hytrel (a windproof, water resistant membrane) is 100% windproof. This allows it to be much less bulky than traditional polar fleece, but keeps you just as warm-or even warmer since there's no loss of body heat due to wind getting through. It has long pit zips, an upper pocket, and 2 lower pockets set high enough up that your hipbelt won't block them. It has a waist cinch cord, and a high collar. It has reinforced nylon over high wear areas like the shoulders and elbows. It has a draft tube made of Hytrel so that wind won't come through the zipper. My only complaint is that it is a bit short, so it tends to ride up your back a little. Its fit is snug- which is good-less bagginess means less room inside it to heat up. I'm 5'9", medium build and I bought a medium. I can wear under it long underwear and a micro fleece shirt without it feeling overly tight. Overall a great jacket for a wide temp range, good with some long underwear down to 30 degrees or lower with 2 layers under it. And you can't beat the price! I have a pair of Campmor Hytrel gloves also that are a steal-- $12 for windproof fleece gloves that will keep your digits warm into the 30's.
