Chamois Butt'r GoStik is a solid skin lubricant that comes in a hand held applicator. This non-greasy, non-fragrant lubricant stays where you apply it and is easily washed off with soap and water. After receiving a sample of the GoStik, I immediately put it to the test during several mountain treks.
On an August 50-mile backpacking trip along the southern end of the John Muir trail, it came in quite handy. In order to keep weight to a minimum I loaded up a small plastic vial with some GoStik and stuck it in my first-aid kit. You wouldn't need this step if the smaller size GoStik was used.
Within the first hour, I was applying some GoStik to my chest where my backpack's chest strap was starting to irritate my chest. Immediately that took care of the problem and I continued to apply it to the area for the remainder of the trip.
The GoStik also was useful for lubricating up a couple of my toes where a hot spot had started to develop from some over tight compression socks. The lubrication and a change of socks cured that little problem. I appreciated that the GoStik isn't greasy and it stays put even in really hot weather.
On a September trip to Europe to hike the Tour of Mont Blanc, the GoStik again came in handy. During the first several days hiking up steep terrain in hot weather for hours at a time, it became necessary to lube up the area around my waist where my backpack's hip belt landed. The combination of sweat and the hip belt had begun to make my waist a bit raw. Again slathering on some GoStik took care of the problem.
The GoStik is a great addition to my kit and the fact that it's a solid and can easily be put in a smaller container makes int more versatile than other skin lubricant products I have used in the past. The product is available in a 2.5-ounce applicator or a .15-ounce tube.
