Coleman Ocala 5

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

The Ocala 5 has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best three-season tents for 2024.

Excellent tent and value. It seems I continue to go larger the older I get. I started out with several small REI tents, including a pole design and then the half dome. With one child in tow and one on the way, we needed a larger tent that would still withstand the Colorado high country and everything she throws at you. I chose this based on the price at the outlet and the fact that it is a very well designed, four pole tent, with a fly that extends all the way to ground around the entire tent.

I've camped in it in all weather conditions, from summer in Ouray (high 30's at night) to elk and mule deer hunting on the Flat Tops (0 F) and three days of continuous snow. The Ocala has held up well and was big enough for us to have two cots, a small table, and camp chairs (during the three days of snow). Although I did get a little bit of cabin fever, the rear plastic window on the fly allowed us to see when the snow let up enough to get outside and move around a little. If you are mostly a car (or Jeep like me) camper, you can't go wrong with this tent.

Sleeps: 4
Ease of Setup: Moderate - about 10 to 15 min for one person, 5 minutes for two people.
Price Paid: $185 (at Coleman outlet)
