Omni-Heat is no joke, making these waterproof snow pants super warm without the need for overly bulky layers.

Pros

  • Waterproof
  • Warm
  • Comfortable

Cons

  • Could use a little more range of adjustment in the waist

I've come to expect high-quality products from Columbia, and these pants are no exception.

I've used them for downhill skiing and snow tubing so far.

I'm 5'8" @ 180lbs, and the size Medium/Regular fit me pretty well, though I could use the ability to tighten down the waist a bit more for the ideal fit. The small was too small for me though. I have unrestricted range of motion in these pants, and they have not yet ever felt like they were getting in my way. I've been very comfortable in them for up to five hours of skiing, and I suspect I would be for even longer sessions.

Being a relatively inexperienced skier, I endured a number of falls without any pant damage resulting from impact or abrasion. They repelled moisture all day, and I didn't notice any hint of condensation/sweat inside the pants at the end of the day.

I wore a single layer consisting of a pair of lightweight "outdoor" pants, and I was unexpectedly warm. Normally, I wear at least another base layer beneath my pants for this type of activity. If I have any complaint, it's that I was way too warm while indoors. I would probably wear only a base layer underneath next time. For the day of snow tubing, it was extremely windy (40-50mph gusts), and the pants were effective in blocking the wind.

As I've mentioned, because of the warmth, there is no need for multiple layers beneath, but there is plenty of room for them without feeling overly bulky.

The zippered pockets are a useful size, and easy to operate and access the contents.

Having had them for only less than a week, I can't speak to their durability.

Overall, I am exceedingly happy with these pants, and even more so because I found that at such a great price.

Background

I've worn multiple brands and styles of "snow pants" throughout the past 40+ years, but I've only had these particular pants for less than one week.
