Danner Elk Hunter

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

The Elk Hunter has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best backpacking boots for 2024.

This is my third pair and first off I would not spend that much money on boots, but I hunt elk and that means lots of miles thru the woods in all kinds of weather. I have hunted in two feet of snow and they work great. I have clock my miles and I average 16 miles a day and with these I don't even worry about it. They are my most important hunting asset.

Overall...an OK boot. I've had a pair for three years and have noticed the knobs on the front mid-soles have "popped" off leaving little traction surface. Not safe to hunt with this year. Something you may want to consider if you hunt in steep rocky country.
