Mountain House Raspberry Crumble

rated 5 of 5 stars This meal is yummy and fast to make—though it's basically warm jam. I'd recommend it to satisfy a sweet tooth on the trail. I tried this meal as a member of another site in exchange for a review while at Lodgepole Overflow Campground in Lake Alpine. This meal was very easy to make and filling and had a lot of flavor. It is an excellent backpacking choice because it's lightweight and delicious. A huge benefit is that it cooks quickly with minimal equipment. All you need is boiling water, a measuring… Full review

Backpacker's Pantry Creme Brulee

rated 4 of 5 stars Food is an area where backpackers often have to make substantial compromises, and dessert is an area where this tradeoff is especially pronounced—there aren’t too many dessert choices that won’t melt or spoil or that don’t require elaborate efforts in cooking, ingredients, and preparation. Now you can have delicious crème brûlée on the trail with little effort and only needing to add water to dry ingredients. You’ll think you’re camping on the Champs-Élysées! Hi Mountain Hot Caramel Apple Crunch

rated 3.5 of 5 stars We have not reviewed camping meals before. We kinda buy them to have as an easy take along for canoe camping, and we usually use brands that are common and well-known. Recently, I used this item as an 'add-on" to a Sierra Trading Post order. I had never heard of this company, since they specialize in jerky and meats, which we do not eat. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this apple dessert (or breakfast). When canoe camping, we often use freeze-dried entrees, since we often… Full review

Trader Joe's Pound Plus 72% Cacao Dark Chocolate

rated 5 of 5 stars Mountaineers, hikers, and other adventurers have long known the magical properties of good dark chocolate. Rejuvenating to both body and spirit this Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate is great for a mid-day snack or campsite treat. It travels well even on long hot days. The Trader Joe's Pound Plus 72% Cacao Dark Chocolate is a very usable, no frills, imported chunk of chocolate. As the name implies it weighs in at 17.6oz or a nice round 500g, though maybe I should say square since it is easily divided… Full review

Backpacker's Pantry Creme Brulee

rated 4 of 5 stars Sweet, creamy and tasty dessert that is a lot like the real thing. Easy to prepare and fun to share. My son and I have always enjoyed the Mountain House Raspberry Cobbler for desserts while out camping. We are big fans of the cobbler.  ;-)  On our most recent trip we brought a new dessert along with us as well as the cobbler. We brought BP Crème Brulee. Crème Brulee is one of my favorite desserts to begin with so I was excited about trying this one. Well, I can definitely say it didn't disappoint. … Full review

Natural High Banana Cream Pie

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Of myself, my wife, and son, none of us liked this at all. A spoonful each, a contorted facial expression and the rest went in the trash. The package claims "No preservative, no artificial colors, flavors or additives" but reading through the ingredients reveals "Partially Hydrogenated Soybean &/or Cottonseed Oils." Do NOT recommend. One of several new deserts taken on a recent 6-day trip. This was relatively easy to prepare. Mix with water, stir, wait, stir and top with the crumb topping. There… Full review

Mountain House Blueberry Cheescake

rated 3.5 of 5 stars A sweet treat. Definitely a nice change of pace than the average meals. I prefer using a little less water than recommended. It was very watery. The taste got old after eating more than a third.  I enjoy that you don't have to boil that much water and the rest is cold.  Best for a group of 3 IMO. Perfect for a midday snack and provides you with enough carbs for a decent dose of energy.  Full review

Mountain House Blueberry Cheescake

rated 4 of 5 stars This is more of a pudding when eaten from the bag but it's good!  Very easy to make. A 1/4 cup of hot water is needed to rehydrate the blueberries and the rest just needs cold water. A single serving easily feeds two people and three just needing "a little something sweet".
