Edelrid Jay

rated 4.5 of 5 stars
photo: Edelrid Jay sit harness

This is the most comfortable budget harness I have used. It is great for all climbing uses, though not the most comfortable to fall on, can easily be sat in for hours without much discomfort.

Pros

  • Cheap
  • High quality feel
  • Comfortable for long periods

Cons

  • Weighty
  • Sometimes difficult to position

The Jay is a great harness that has stood up to the last four months of very heavy use. I have worked at a ropes course all day all week in it. It is very comfortable to wear and sit in for lengthy periods of time.

However the haul loop off the back is quite small and is difficult to attach anything to it. The four gear loops are strong and have held up to the carrying of hefty loads of an entire rope as well as a couple of large zipline assemblies.

This harness greatly stands up to all expectations I had of it.
