eGear SplashFlash LED Light

I really like this light. It uses a single AAA battery. It is not much bigger than the battery. It has a diffused end, so it works well as a small lantern – not as bright as other lanterns, but actually pretty good for its size and 1 AAA battery.

Pros

  • Small
  • Waterproof
  • Bright on only 1 AAA battery
  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Strange SOS Strobe Function
  • Not as bright as a larger lantern
  • Not as focused as a flashlight

Since it has a a small caribiner attachmetn at the back, when hung, all the light goes down and to the sides i.e. no dark spot underneath And none of the light going up toward the top of the tent. I might leave behind my small LED lantern and use this instead if I want to go light. It works OK as a flashlight for near lighting only (due to the diffuser.)

It’s waterproof. It does have a strobe function, but that strobes SOS in Morse code so I would be cautious about using that lest I give someone the wrong idea, although I guess it would be good for boating and other watersports where that would be desired.

It is also pretty cheap – I got mine in a set with a headlamp made by the same company that uses a coin cell and, including the strap, is smaller than a golf ball, for under $20 for both.
