GSI Outdoors Java Press

photo: GSI Outdoors Java Press coffee press/filter

I owned this press for about a week. It works great and the coffee tastes good, but the problem I had with it wasn't with it. I drink coffee, but I'm not a coffee junkie. 30 oz of coffee is a lot of coffee for one person. I returned mine and will be buying their personal version.

The one problem I did have with mine was the press rod came unscrewed from the filter leaving the filter in the bottom of the press and no way to pull it out.  If this happens, pull the press rod all of the way out of the lid, screw the press rod back into the filter and pull the filter out. Then unscrew the press rod from the filter, insert the press rod back through the lid, and screw the filter back on.  That's the only issue I found with this device.

On a side note, I did have one other things I wasn't impressed with. The handle on the side seems useless to me. I couldn't get my hand through it to wrap my hand around the press. Maybe this isn't the why the handle is there. It's not really a negative point, it just seems that the handle is a useless add on.
