Klymit Insulated Static V Luxe SL

photo: Klymit Insulated Static V Luxe SL air-filled sleeping pad

Very good mat for big guys for winter camping, ideal for back or side sleeping.

Pros

  • Insulation from the ground
  • For big guys
  • Separate inflating and deflating valves

Cons

  • Weight 880 g

Perfect for winter camping. I was camping on snow; under the pad I had only a folded tarp and I had no coldness on my back or side while sleeping. I used it with a down sleeping bag (1100 g 850 cu in).

Inflating for me is about 15 breaths. Deflating is comfortable because there are separate in and out valves. Its weight is 880 g; maybe it's almost 1 kg, but the pad surface is very big and even a 190-cm tall guy will sleep well.

The pad is sealed with a patch kit.

Experience

Previously I had a Klymit Insulated Static V Lite and it was too short for me. The LUX SL is very comfortable; maybe it's heavier than my last pad, but the dimensions of LUX SL have weight. The isolation is better than the Static V Lite. I have slept four nights on snow in temperatures about -5° C and hadn't any discomfort.
